*PROCEEDS GO TO TYPHOON RELIEF*
Download Waterproof for $1, or enter a larger amount if you're feeling charitable!
You may have heard that every year numerous typhoons pass over the Philippines, sometimes leaving as much as 80% of the city under varying amounts of water. Some areas saw water only ankle deep, while others faced water as high as the chest, neck, or even head level. This year, the government declared a state of calamity in over half a dozen provinces due to typhoon “Maring”. MILLIONS are affected every year; many losing homes, cars, business, and in some cases, loved ones. With such chaos surrounding them, one can’t help but notice the strength and resolve of the Filipino people. Tough flood waters sweep away their cars, homes, and possessions, every head is still held high, and the Filipino spirit is never broken. As long as they are surrounded by the people they care about, everything else is just a mild set back.
I’ve personally grabbed a shovel, packed relief bags, and scrubbed the walls of mud filled homes; but this time I wanted to see if I could do something more. I set out to write this song; with the goal of illustrating and praising how “waterproof” the Filipino heart has proven to be. Now a song alone doesn’t necessarily provide any relief, so “Waterproof” will be available for purchase online, with the proceeds going to help fund typhoon relief organizations. So if your feeling charitable, or happen to enjoy the song, download a copy today!
lyrics
I forgot just what you said
As the clouds formed overhead
As the water filled the sky
Oh I could feel it in my knees
I could see it eat the trees
But you’re good company
And we keep dodging hurricanes
that wash up on our shore
Cause these hearts they are waterproof
and they can handle more
Natures got a funny way
Of knocking at our door
And maybe if She’s loud enough
Well stop and check for sure
Soon enough the sun comes out
Pircing through the doubt
The the sea would swallow me
Though floods consume the ground
Our spirits cant be drowned
Oh not in this country
And we keep dodging hurricanes
that wash up on our shore
Cause these hearts they are waterproof
and they can handle more
Natures got a funny way
Of knocking at our door
And maybe if She’s loud enough
Well stop and check for sure
I guess the things they say are true
Grey skies always turn blue
When your with the ones you love
Water may be to the roof
But these hearts are waterproof
When were with the ones we love
So gather with the ones you love
Cause baby the oceans falling from above
And we have learned that this is only
Temporary girl/(boy)
